As a result, they were issued heavily insulated flight clothing such as this flight suit to protect them from the subzero temperatures. The origins of this flight suit are unknown but it was tested by the US Army Air Forces, Foreign Technology Division during the war to obtain information that might be used to improve American cold weather flight clothing.
