HISTORY

Military Flight jackets were created to keep the pilot protected from harsh weather conditions due to exposure in an open cockpit. Later, the  military faced the issue of early bomber jackets melting in the event there was a fire in the cockpit. To solve this issue, the CWU (Cold Weather Uniform) was created due to the thermal resistant, fire-retardant capabilities. This jacket was originally made in 1972 to replace the MA-1 Jacket. The military continues issuing these jackets today. Manufacturers have created a nylon version of the CWU-36P and it remains a popular jacket in the fashion industry.   

CWU- 36P Nomex FLIGHT JACKET

With comfort features such as the 100% polyester quilted liner and 100% nylon outer shell to repel water, you are sure to stay dry and warm even in foul weather. The classic military design is constructed with knit wrist cuffs and waistband, two fully lined front cargo pockets with hook & loop fasteners matching the 2″ x 41/4″ hook & loop badge on the left chest, side sleeve pocket on left arm with zipper on the side of the pocket (with pencil/pen pocket), nylon storm flap and special stand up collar and the zippers features leather tabs.
